Slow Travel: Ireland Overland Trip

Slow Travel: Ireland Overland Trip

What happens when you swap a plane for a train and a ferry? Not only do connections grow, but the journey itself becomes part of the experience.

The Ireland Overland event proved that slowing down can bring people closer; to each other and to the places they visit. Somewhere between London, Holyhead, Dublin and Kerry, strangers became friends through shared conversations, changing landscapes, local stories and moments that simply would not happen in an airport lounge.

This report includes the carbon emissions data – which were, of course, reduced through the choice of overland travel – but it also explores the wider impact of the event: the social connection, wellbeing, cultural immersion and meaningful experiences that truly matter when creating memorable events.

It is a look at how thoughtful, lower-impact event design can create richer experiences for both attendees and the destinations hosting them.

Thank you to Evolve Events, Kerry Convention Bureau, Dublin Convention Bureau, Meet in Ireland, Be in your element, Visit Wales and Irish Ferries for curating such an amazing trip. From Now is proud to be the chosen reporting partner for this trip.
