Carrots are the perfect crop to sow this Spring. What makes them so great is the fact that they can be grown in containers if needed. Making them the ideal London crop to grow this Spring.
Why?
UK-grown carrots are available in supermarkets most of the year round, except in May when most of the carrots are imported from sunnier climates in Europe. The ease of growing carrots is the main reason we are discussing them today and a reminder that you never need to purchase them from abroad. Even if you are unable to plant your own carrots, make sure you’re checking where they were grown before your purchase them.
How to plant
- Fill your container with fresh soil, and/or fertilize your beds.
- Sew your seeds sparingly and cover them with a thin layer of soil.
- Water thoroughly.
- Ensure the area remains weed-free and keep watering.
- Enjoy your home-grown carrots within 14-16 weeks!
